Another few shots from my trip to Killbear with Kevin Collins.
While there is plenty of Canadian landscape photography out there, I often find there is less Ontario landscape work going on. Part of this of course is that I am probably not looking hard enough.
Still, you can easily find hundreds of thousands of images of the Rocky Mountains, but start searching for images of Ontario and the results pages tend to get a little thinner. It could be because, outside of Niagara Falls, Ontario doesn’t seem have the “trophies” that many look for: those iconic images that have drawn the attention of so many photographers throughout the years.
Myself, I find the landscape here more subtle; it requires time and contemplation to create images that really stick. Often, I need to visit a place more than once just to start getting a feel for what it’s really like.
Georgian Bay is an area that I have only begun to discover. It’s an amazing landscape of rocks and coniferous trees that just astounds once you spend some time there. I can’t wait to get back.
