Killarney on film

This will be my last post from my trip to Killarney a while back.

I brought along my Canon Rebel 35mm SLR as a back up camera during that trip. Good thing too as my digital battery died pretty early on :).  I admit, I like the challenge of shooting film:  you have a limited number of shots and much less control in the post-processing (especially for me who doesn’t have a dark room).

A lot of the film turned out poorly, in part I think because the lens I was using has some dirt inside of it – though I can’t be sure. Maybe I just don’t have the knack of film yet. But a few did turn out quite nicely.

The first 3 shots are from my film camera, while the latter 3 are some digital ones that I like but haven’t yet posted.

Hope you enjoy!

  1. So pretty of the feather on the rock, and I love the red leaaf image as well. I really enjoy that image of the lake / pond too… are those all lily pads? THe scene is almost trippy with the gradient effect, going from shadow to reflecting the light in the sky. Lovely!

  2. These are great Mike. I particularly like the painterly effect of the second image and the background blur in the 4th.

    • Thanks Scott! I was particularly happy with the 4th as well. Something about how the leaf just comes out of nothing appealed to me. Glad you enjoyed them!
