Photo of the week

This photo was taken in the gravel pit at my wife’s parents farm. I have always wanted to do something with the row of rocks that lines the laneway. We were walking by and I saw the sun was just breaking through the clouds making for a nice dramatic sky; I just had to stop and take a few pictures.

    • Their farm IS amazing! I love exploring there, and I have hundreds of photos of the place.

I am quite happy with this image, but I would have liked to be able to lighten the foreground elements a little. My kingdom for an ND Grad filter! 🙂

  1. Rocks are interesting things. I had a look at your pictures and it reminded me of my love for photographing rocks. I like them so much that a guy in my office always says “hey looks rocks” when we are traveling for work. I like your stuff Mike you do good work. If you want to hear about something related. Yesterday I was able to drive to an Island where someone has placed some rocks in a row. I of course had to take some photos. I posted one on both my website and my blog. Check it out.

    • I love shooting rocks as well Lee. They make for such great foreground elements in a photo. I love the one you posted on your site, it really grounds the composition and gives a great sense of depth to the image. Thanks for commenting!
